Rupert Kerrell

Rupert Kerrell serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Allied & Public Health Professions at Canterbury Christ Church University, specializing in Occupational Therapy within the Allied Health Professions and Dental Practice/SIM department. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since joining in 2007, he teaches foundational modules on bodily systems, function, and occupation while leading inter-professional education for Nursing, Midwifery, Radiography, and Social Work students.

His academic credentials include:

• MSc in Neurorehabilitation from Brunel University

Research focuses on neurorehabilitation for stroke, Parkinson's, and motor neurone disease alongside critical exploration of sexuality within health and social care contexts. His methodology investigations include fast-track training for health professionals and appreciative inquiry in healthcare education, stemming from collaborations with King's College London, London South Bank University, and Cardiff University.

As Pathway Director for Occupational Therapy and Academic Group Lead for therapy programmes, he established the 2020 Occupational Therapy Apprentice programme. His student-centered approach earned a 2024 Golden Apple Award nomination for 'most dedicated to supporting students', reflecting his commitment to academic mentorship across clinical and educational domains.
