Rune Slothuus

Rune Slothuus is a Professor at the Department of Political Science, Aarhus University, Denmark. His research explores how citizens understand politics and form policy preferences, with a focus on the role of political parties as opinion leaders.

His work investigates public opinion formation, political communication, and partisan influence, particularly in complex policy areas like climate change, immigration, and inequality. Methodologically, he specializes in experimental designs and survey research.

He teaches courses on democratic systems and research design, including the seminar Can We Leave Democracy to the Voters? Public Opinion Formation and Citizens’ Democratic Competence.
