Rune Johan Krumsvik is a Professor of Education at the University of Bergen (UiB) and holds a secondary Professor II position at Volda University College. He has served as Head of Department at UiB's Department of Education (2010-2017) and leads the Digital Learning Communities research group he founded in 2007. Krumsvik is also founder of the Western Norway Graduate School of Educational Research II (WNGER II) and maintains international affiliations as Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Bristol.

He received the Teaching Award in 2012 (UiB) and was nominated again in 2015, later earning the Excellent Teaching Practitioner title in 2020. With a background in qualitative methods, mixed-method research, and academic writing, he has taught at all educational levels from secondary school to doctoral programs.
