Ruichong Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado School of Mines. He holds a Ph.D. from Florida Atlantic University (1992) and prior academic experience at Princeton University and the University of Southern California.
Research interests include
- Continuum mechanics and vibration theory
- Wave propagation in layered/stochastic media
- Advanced data processing for structural health monitoring
- Disaster mitigation and nondestructive evaluation
His publications focus on structural integrity assessment, acoustic-emission modeling, and time-frequency analysis for infrastructure systems. He received the 1997 IASSAR Junior Research Prize in Stochastic Dynamics for seismic wave research.
