Ruby Roberts

Dr Ruby Roberts is a Chancellor’s Fellow of Industrial Psychology at the Aberdeen Business School at Robert Gordon University (RGU), with a focus on human factors, organizational culture, and safety in high-hazard industries. A Chartered Psychologist and member of the British Psychological Society, she combines academic research with industry collaboration. Her work spans oil & gas, healthcare, and renewable energy sectors, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to improve safety and operational efficiency.

Education includes a PhD in Psychology from the University of Aberdeen (2012–2016), a Master’s degree, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She leads projects such as the Human factors in offshore wind: A scoping safety study and co-developed RGU’s first research culture surveys. Her research explores innovation adoption, psychological barriers to technology uptake, and organizational culture improvement.

Key contributions include pioneering tools like the Innovation Adoption Culture Survey with the Net Zero Technology Centre and Prof Flin. She advises on psychological health & safety in HEIs and collaborates with industry to address competency and safety challenges in renewables. Awards include Renewable UK’s 2024 Future Leader recognition and Chartered Psychologist status.
