Ruben E. Quiros

Ruben E. Quiros is a Professor in Pediatrics and Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), where he serves as Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Fellowship Program Director for the Pediatric GI and Transplant Hepatology programs, and Medical Director for the Pediatric Liver/Intestinal Transplantation and Weight & Wellness Specialty Care. He holds leadership roles including Vice Chair for Internal Affairs and has previously held positions at Texas Children’s Hospital and the University of Rochester.

• Education: MD from Universidad Nacional de Panama; residencies in Panama and Philadelphia; fellowships at UCLA.

His research and clinical focus spans Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, with expertise in liver/intestinal transplantation, intestinal failure, and obesity-related liver disease. He emphasizes patient-centered care and adolescent comfort in managing chronic conditions.
