Dr. Rotem Avneri Meir serves as a Visiting Fellow in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and the Classics at Harvard University, and as a Doctoral Researcher at the Academy of Finland's Centre of Excellence in Ancient Near Eastern Empires (ANEE) at the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Arts, Department of World Cultures.
His research focuses on the social history of Hellenistic Judea, examining the establishment of Hasmonean dynastic rule through its brokerage with the Seleucid Empire and responses within contemporary Jewish society.
