Rossella Cacciola

Rossella Cacciola is an Associate Professor of Hematology at the School of Medicine, University of Catania, with over 30 years of professional experience in clinical and experimental hematology, thrombosis management, and myeloproliferative neoplasms. She serves as Head of the Haemostasis Unit at AOUP "G. Rodolico- San Marco" and leads multidisciplinary research initiatives.

• MD (1982), PhD in Physiopathology of Metabolism (1988), and Postgraduate Degree in Hematology (1990) from University of Catania

Her research focuses on clinical hematology, onco-hematology, thrombophilic disorders, and anticoagulant therapies (VKA/DOACs), with expertise in genetic polymorphism analysis, platelet function, and statistical modeling. She has contributed to national/international research projects including ECLAP, GIMEMA protocols, and PRISM Study.

As an educator, she has taught Hematology across multiple graduate and postgraduate programs at the University of Catania since 1993, including Master's Degrees in Medicine, PhD programs in "Medical Embryology and Experimental Hematology and Pathology", "Molecular Medicine", and specialized courses in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques and Gerontology.
