Ross Avilla

Dr. Ross Avilla is a Continuing Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of California, Merced. He holds a PhD in Psychology from UC Davis (2013) and has been affiliated with UC Merced since then. His teaching portfolio includes courses on Human Sexuality, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Research Methods, and Introduction to Psychology. His research focuses on interpersonal relationships, first-generation college students, and ethical challenges in educational research.

Dr. Avilla has contributed to studies on gamified review sessions, mixed-methods approaches to LGBTQ+ sexual health education, and the impact of political events on minority students' stress levels. He actively participates in university governance roles including Chairperson of the Equity & Inclusiveness in Governance Working Group and co-chair of the Non-Senate Academic Council.
