Professor Rosemary Boyton is a Professor of Immunology and Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College London's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Infectious Disease. She holds an honorary consultant physician role at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, specializing in acute and chronic lung infections and immune disorders. Her research focuses on molecular immunology of infectious, allergic, and autoimmune inflammation using patient studies and advanced model systems.
Research interests include adaptive immunity in viral infections (Zika, Chikungunya, SARS-CoV-2), bacterial pathogens (Burkholderia, Pseudomonas), microbiome-immune interactions, lung autoimmunity, and NK/T cell receptor dynamics. She has organized interdisciplinary conferences, such as the Royal Society’s “Human evolution, migration and history revealed by genetics, immunity and infection” in collaboration with Danny Altmann and Francois Balloux.
