Dr Rose Parfitt is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Kent’s Kent Law School, where she has been since April 2016. She holds a PhD from SOAS, University of London (2011), and has held prior academic positions including Assistant Professor of International Law at the American University in Cairo (2011–2013) and a McKenzie Research Fellowship at Melbourne Law School’s Institute for International Law and the Humanities (2013–2016). Her research focuses on international law’s role in global inequality, fascism, and interdisciplinary legal historiography. She leads collaborative projects like the ‘Fascism and the International’ initiative and co-directs the Law and Society Association’s International Law and Politics Collaborative Research Network.

Her research integrates legal analysis with art and sound studies to challenge authoritarian discourses. She has received the Australian Research Council’s DECRA (2015) and led projects such as ‘International Law and the Legacies of Fascist Internationalism’ (2016–2019). Grants include support from the Socio-Legal Studies Association and Kent University’s Faculty Research Fund. She has held visiting roles at institutions worldwide, including Melbourne Law School and Helsinki Law School.
Her work spans monographs, peer-reviewed articles, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Recent projects include the ‘Interdisciplinarity as Resistance’ workshop series and a 2020 ARC-funded study on populism and international law.
