Rose Matheson

Rose Matheson is a Lecturer in Paramedic Science within the Nursing Division at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. She maintains professional affiliations with the College of Paramedics. Her academic foundation includes a BSc (Hons) in Biology from the University of Dundee and a Foundation degree in Paramedic and Emergency Care from Oxford Brookes University.

Her research focuses on:

• Human factors in paramedic education and transitions to clinical practice
• Rural healthcare delivery models and staff retention strategies
• Expansion of paramedic roles in non-traditional settings
• Palliative care integration in emergency medicine
• Pharmacology applications in pre-hospital care

Professionally, Rose has extensive frontline experience including service with South Central Ambulance Service, Scottish Ambulance Service (Isle of Skye), and pioneering primary care paramedic roles in GP practices. She holds an independent prescribing qualification and has delivered medical aid to refugees in Thessaloniki during the Syrian conflict.
