Rosana Gonzalez-Colaso

Rosana Gonzalez-Colaso serves as Assistant Professor in the Physician Associate Program within the Department of Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She holds multiple leadership positions including Faculty Director of Research Education in General Internal Medicine, Associate Director of the Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellowship in Health Equity Leadership at Yale School of Management, Affiliated Faculty at the Yale Institute for Global Health, and Faculty Director of Workforce Development and Diversity at the Equity Research and Innovation Center (ERIC).

Her research focuses on Health Services Research with particular emphasis on health equity, disparities, social determinants of health, and healthcare management. She has developed culturally and linguistically sensitive instruments to measure healthcare discrimination and explores barriers to quality care for patients with Limited English Proficiency in the United States. Her work bridges Hispanic or Latino public health with clinical practice and education.

Dr. Gonzalez-Colaso's publications demonstrate consistent focus on health equity, medical education, and interprofessional collaboration. Her recent work examines telehealth equity during the pandemic, diversity in medical education, and structured communication in clinical settings. Her research spans topics from diabetes management in Mexican populations to financial stress among physician assistant students, reflecting her commitment to addressing health disparities through multiple lenses.

As Deputy Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the PA Program (appointed July 2022), Dr. Gonzalez-Colaso leads initiatives to enhance representation and inclusion. She serves on multiple committees including the PA Program Admissions Committee since 2004, PA Program Academic Affairs Committee since 2014, Yale School of Public Health Downs Committee since 2008, International Rotations Selection Committee since 2008, and PA Program Program Assessment Committee since 2010.
