Rory Osborne

Dr. Rory Osborne is a BBSRC Research Fellow at the School of Biosciences, University of Birmingham, focusing on plant-pathogen interactions and epigenetic memory mechanisms. His work explores how chromatin structure and proteolysis pathways, particularly the N-degron pathway, regulate plant immunity and growth.

• Education: PhD in Biological Sciences (University of Warwick, 2019), BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry (Queen Mary, University of London, 2015)

Rory's research investigates:

• Epigenetic memory in plants for stress resilience
• PRC2 complex and VRN2 proteolysis in environmental signal integration
• Role of effector proteins in mutualistic symbiosis
• Engineering epigenomes for crop disease resistance

He serves as Assistant Features Editor for The Plant Cell and tutors at the Gatsby Plant Science Summer School, actively participating in the Society for Experimental Biology.
