Ronny Alexandersson

Ronny Alexandersson is a Lecturer at the Department of Basic Biology, Uppsala University, specializing in biological, natural science, and subject didactics courses for teacher training programs. He collaborates with researchers across disciplines (biology, chemistry, physics) and coordinates theoretical-practical integrations in education.

Research Interests: His work focuses on pollination biology, plant-animal interactions, and evolutionary ecology. Key studies include pollination mechanisms in gymnosperms (Ephedra), evolutionary shifts in orchid pollination systems (Platanthera bifolia, Calypso bulbosa), and ecotype coexistence in African flora. Current projects involve understanding how pollinator shifts drive diversification in relict plant species.

Publications: Recent studies analyze pollination adaptations in orchids and Gladiolus, with a 2016 paper on Ephedra’s diversification and a 2014 study on spur-length evolution in Platanthera bifolia. Earlier work (2004–2006) examines phenotypic selection in orchids under environmental stress.
