Dr. Ronnie Clayton is the Glenn Huie Eminent Scholar Chair and Professor of Finance in the College of Commerce and Business Administration at Jacksonville State University, where he has taught since 2000. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Georgia (1982), an MA from the University of Alabama (1978), and a BS from the University of Alabama (1976).
His research focuses on U.S. and international investing, asset valuation, and financial issues in bank management, with expertise spanning investment analysis, portfolio management, and financial forecasting. His work frequently appears in top-tier finance journals.
Dr. Clayton received the prestigious Glenn Huie Eminent Scholar Chair award. He has led high-profile financial consultations for cases exceeding $30 billion in asset valuations, including precedent-setting testimonies in the American Home Mortgage and Lehman Brothers bankruptcies.
As Executive Director of the Southern Finance Association since 1992, he organizes annual academic conferences and co-sponsors the Journal of Financial Research. He also established an international academic partnership with Lishui University (China), taught there from 2017–2019, and is revitalizing the program for 2024.
