About
Ronald Miller is Chancellor's Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. His research specializes in computational materials science, including nanomechanics, multiscale modeling, and molecular dynamics simulations. Focus areas include radiation effects on nuclear materials, transparent armor development, and high strain rate polymer deformation.
Co-authored foundational textbooks: Modeling Materials: Continuum, Atomistic and Multiscale Techniques and Continuum Mechanics and Thermodynamics. Leads the Nanomechanics Research Group investigating atomistic modeling of crystal defects and material behavior under extreme conditions.
Research applications span aerospace engineering, nuclear reactor safety, and protective materials design. Recent projects include CFD simulations of lubricant flows and nanocomposite ballistic performance analysis.
