About
Dr. Ron Warzoha is a Professor in the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department at the United States Naval Academy. His research focuses on nanoscale/microscale energy transport, thermal transport in applied materials/interfaces, and thermal measurement science. He has developed novel techniques such as the miniaturized steady-state heat meter bar apparatus and Frequency-Domain Thermoreflectance (FDTR) for material analysis. Current projects include ONR-funded studies on phonon scattering in optical ceramics, electron-phonon interactions in metals, and thermal characterization of shape memory alloys for solid-state refrigeration systems.
- Research Collaborations: Works with NRL, ARL, NREL, Purdue, Penn, Villanova, and UC Irvine.
- Funding: Active ONR contracts: Thermal Transport Processes and Counter-Directed Energy Weapons.
He has received a prestigious Best Paper award (2016 IEEE) and has 8 in-press peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. Warzoha mentors undergraduate researchers, Bowman Scholars, and Trident Scholars, emphasizing hands-on academic and professional development.
