About
Román Corfas is a Della Martin Postdoctoral Fellow at the California Institute of Technology, working in the Dickinson Lab. His research focuses on neural circuits and computational mechanisms underlying complex behaviors in insects, particularly path integration in Drosophila and thermotaxis in mosquitoes.
- PhD in Biology, The Rockefeller University (2016)
- B.A. in Neuroscience, Oberlin College (2008)
His work combines behavioral experiments, genome-editing, and agent-based modeling to study how insects use sensory signals for navigation. He has developed high-throughput setups to analyze Drosophila path integration and identified key sensory pathways in mosquito heat-seeking behavior.
Román’s recent publications explore topics such as thermotaxis in mosquitoes, food-sensing neurons in Drosophila, and sensory-motor systems for host detection. His research has been recognized through the Della Martin Postdoctoral Fellowship.
