Dr. Roman Shrestha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Connecticut (UConn), with a joint appointment as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Malaya and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Yale University. His research focuses on HIV prevention, substance use interventions, and mHealth technologies, particularly targeting key populations such as people who inject drugs (PWID), sexually diverse groups (e.g., MSM, TGW), and migrant workers. He leads the Shrestha Lab, which develops and evaluates interventions in community, healthcare, and criminal justice settings, both domestically and internationally.
Education: PhD from UConn and MPH, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale School of Medicine. He holds NIH-funded grants (e.g., R21DA051934, R21TW011665) and industry grants.
