Roman Prokop

Prof. Ing. Roman Prokop, CSc. is a faculty member at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, holding the academic rank of Professor in Technical Cybernetics. He has served in significant administrative roles, including Vice-Rector for Lifelong Learning (2016–2019), Statutory Deputy of the Rector, and Director of the Institute of Mathematics. Currently, he is affiliated with the Faculty of Applied Informatics and the Department of Mathematics.

• Education: Ing. in Nuclear and Physical Engineering (Czech Technical University, 1976); CSc. in Electrical Engineering (University of Technology Bratislava, 1983); Habilitation in Technical Cybernetics (Brno University of Technology, 1996); Appointment as Professor in Technical Cybernetics (2004).

His research focuses on Technical Cybernetics and its intersections with Mathematics, particularly in applied informatics and pedagogical activities. Over his career, he has undertaken internships at institutions such as the University of Birmingham (UK), Uppsala University (Sweden), and LAAS CNRS Toulouse (France), and participated in Erasmus programs at universities in Turkey, Italy, and Greece.

• Organizational Memberships: Board member of the Association of Universities of the Third Age of the Czech Republic (2016–2018, as President); Member of scientific councils at Tomas Bata University in Zlín (2004–2019) and the Faculty of Applied Informatics; Chairman of the Doctoral Study Board at FAI UTB.

He has held leadership roles in university governance and academic administration, including Deputy Dean and Director of the Institute of Mathematics. He also contributes to education through international collaborations and statutory duties.
