Roman Kapuscinski

Roman Kapuscinski is the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research, John Psarouthakis Research Professor of Manufacturing Management, and Professor of Technology and Operations at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. He holds a PhD (1996) and MS (1993) from Carnegie Mellon University.

His research focuses on supply chain management, inventory systems, and the intersection of operations with marketing and finance. Key areas include value-of-information dynamics in supply chains, production-inventory system design, ownership efficiency in value chains, energy market pricing, and customer behavior impacts on operational decisions. He has advised numerous MBA and Tauber projects, collaborating with companies on practical applications of his research.

Kapuscinski serves as an Associate Editor for Management Science and Operations Research. His work has been recognized through three Ross Teaching Excellence Awards and multiple paper competition recognitions. Recent research trends emphasize distributed energy storage, supply chain resilience, and dynamic pricing strategies for new products.
