About
Romain Peretti is a CNRS Research Fellow affiliated with the Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN) at Université de Lille. His work focuses on TeraHertz biophotonics, with expertise in terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) for biological and medical applications.
- Education: PhD in fiber optic spectroscopy from Université Lyon 1 (2013-2016), Postdoctoral research at Institut des Nanotechnologies de Lyon (INL) and ETH Zurich on photonic crystals and quantum cascade lasers.
Research Interests center on advancing THz spectroscopy techniques for biomedical diagnostics, protein structure analysis, and absorption enhancement using photonic structures. His work bridges physics, photonics, and biology to develop THz-based tools for material and biological sample characterization.
Scientific Contributions include improving super-resolution THz-TDS for gas and biological analysis, modeling permittivity in THz spectroscopy, and studying phonon-polariton interactions. His publications reflect interdisciplinary applications of THz technology in healthcare, environmental monitoring, and nanophotonics.
- Awards: Senior Member of Optica (2021).
- Leadership: Associate Editor, Optics Express (2020-present).
