About
Romain Felli serves as a post-doctoral researcher at the Swiss National Science Foundation, a research associate at the University of Geneva's Department of Political Science and International Relations, and a lecturer at the ISE. Previously, he has held post-doctoral fellowships at the universities of Manchester (UK), York (Canada), and Basel, and has also taught at EPFL.
His research centers on socio-environmental relations and their regulation, with particular focus on the conceptual foundations of sustainable development, participatory practices, migration and environment interactions, the transition to a post-carbon society, and the international political economy of the environment. His "Ambizione" research project specifically examines the emergence and diffusion of the concept of "resilience" in international environmental adaptation policies.
His scholarly work reveals consistent engagement with critical perspectives on environmental governance, particularly examining how neoliberal frameworks shape climate policy through mechanisms like emissions trading. His recent publications demonstrate increasing focus on climate justice, labor-environment relations, and alternative governance models that challenge market-based approaches to environmental problems. He frequently publishes in high-impact interdisciplinary journals spanning political science, geography, and environmental studies.
Felli's educational background includes a doctorate in political science from the University of Lausanne (2011), a Bachelor of Arts in geography from UNIL (2003), and a Master of Research in political theory from Sciences Po (IEP Paris, 2005), reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to environmental politics.
He teaches courses on Cities and Environment and International Political Economy, connecting theoretical frameworks with practical urban and global environmental challenges.
