Dr. E.R. (Rolf) Nijsse serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Infectious Diseases & Immunology within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University. His office is located in the Androclus Building at Yalelaan 1, room W 306, Utrecht.
Dr. Nijsse specializes in veterinary parasitology with a focus on companion animals, clinical infectiology, and zoonotic diseases. His research encompasses diagnostic approaches for parasitic infections, antimicrobial resistance surveillance in companion animals, and evidence-based parasite control strategies. He has particular expertise in Giardia infections, Toxocara control, and Tritrichomonas foetus in companion animals.
Dr. Nijsse has served as Chair of both the European Scientific Counsel Companion Animal Parasites (ESCCAP) Benelux (2017-2019) and the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Parasitologie (Dutch Parasitology Association) (2017-2019). He has been an active peer reviewer for the journal Preventive Veterinary Medicine and has contributed to numerous national and international conferences.
