About
Dr. Rolf Gohm is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at Aberystwyth University. Born in Germany, he earned his PhD in Mathematics from Tuebingen University (1993) and habilitation (2004) in Greifswald, focusing on noncommutative stationary processes. He joined Aberystwyth in 2007 after previous roles at the University of Reading (2005–2007). His research focuses on noncommutative probability theory, operator algebras, and quantum control, with over 17 publications and two externally funded projects. He has supervised two postgraduate students: Zac Bufton (PhD) and Shubh Joshi (MPhil).
Education: PhD (Tuebingen, 1993), Habilitation (Greifswald, 2004). Research interests include operator theory, quantum Markov processes, and noncommutative independence structures. Active in academic activities like the Wales Mathematics Colloquium (2022) and international workshops on operator theory. His work bridges pure mathematics and applications in quantum physics and control systems.
Research highlights include studies on quantum feedback networks (2008), asymptotic completeness in quantum systems (2017), and noncommutative independence via braid groups (2009). Projects include EPSRC-funded research on quantum control (2009–2012) and a 2019 SSN Educational Trust grant. His contributions span operator algebras, functional models, and semi-cosimplicial structures in probability theory.
