Roland Spickermann

Roland Spickermann is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Texas Permian Basin’s College of Arts and Humanities. He holds a PhD in History from the University of Michigan and specializes in German history, with a focus on rural nationalism and adoption practices in 20th-century Germany.

His research spans political mobilization in the German Empire and the social history of adoption. Dr. Spickermann teaches undergraduate courses on World Civilizations, Modern Europe, the Third Reich/Holocaust, the French Revolution, and Modern China, alongside graduate-level courses on German history, Industrialization, and Democratization.

He has published articles in German History, Central European History, and German Studies Review, and is currently completing a manuscript on adoption history in Germany.
