Roland Rad

Prof. Roland Rad holds the chair of Molecular Oncology and Functional Genomics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he is also Director of the Institute of Molecular Oncology and Functional Genomics. He previously held a professorship for Translational Oncology at TUM and led a DKTK working group at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg.

His research focuses on the molecular basis of tumor evolution, particularly in cancer therapy. He explores structural and functional genomics, systems biology, and translational medicine. His team develops genetic technologies and disease models for high-throughput perturbation of biological systems.

Award highlights include the German Cancer Prize (2019), ERC Consolidator Grant (2018), and European Gastroenterology Association Rising Star Award (2014).

In advising and grants, he has led significant research projects, including the DKTK working group. His lab focuses on pancreatic cancer and other malignancies, contributing to understanding tumor evolution mechanisms.
