Roland Freisitzer

Roland Freisitzer is a lecturer at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna (MUK) since September 2019, associated with the Faculty of Music. A composer and conductor specializing in contemporary music, he has been active in premiering works globally with ensembles such as GAGEEGO!, Ensemble Reconsil, and KammarensembleN. He founded the ensemble reconsil in Moscow (1991) and The Moscow Orchestra (1994), serving as chief conductor until 1998. His career spans conducting engagements with major orchestras and opera houses in Russia and former Soviet states, alongside commissions from renowned ensembles like Ensemble Modern and Hugo Wolf Quartet.

• Education: Private composition studies with Alfred Schnittke (1989), Edison Denisov (Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, 1991), and Faradsch Karaev (Baku Music Academy, 1999).
• Key Activities: Co-founded ensemble reconsil vienna (2002), conducted over 400 world premieres, and released a portrait CD in ORF Zeit-Ton series (2007).
• Recognition: Multiple Austrian state scholarships and the 2009 Ministry of Culture's 'Outstanding' prize.
