Roland Ettema

Prof. Dr. Roland Ettema serves as a Professor at Antwerp Management School where he teaches the Executive Master in Enterprise IT Architecture program since 2018, and concurrently holds a senior lecturer position at Nyenrode Business University for the BIV-AO (Financial Auditing) program. With over 25 years of integrated consulting and academic experience, he specializes in translating complex organizational changes into practical, human-centered solutions through enterprise engineering frameworks.

His academic credentials include:

• M.Sc. in ICT Management from Middlesex University (1996)
• PhD jointly awarded by Radboud University Nijmegen and the University of Antwerp (2016) focusing on Lean Six Sigma and enterprise engineering

Ettema's research centers on enterprise IT architecture and organizational transformation, emphasizing culturally contextual implementations of process improvement and quality management systems. He has significantly contributed to international standards development including the ArchiMate modeling language (now an Open Group standard) and DEMO enterprise ontology method, while establishing industry-focused communities like the Lean Six Sigma special interest group.

At the Open University of the Netherlands where he has been affiliated since 2011, he heads the Information Expertise Centre.
