Prof. Roland Beckmann is a full professor at the Department of Biochemistry at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, leading the Beckmann Lab at the Gene Center. His research focuses on structural and molecular biology of ribosomes, molecular machines, and protein translocation mechanisms. He has held positions including VolkswagenStiftung Group Leader (2001–2006) and postdoctoral researcher at Rockefeller University (1995–2000).
Education: PhD in Biochemistry (Freie Universität Berlin, 1995), postdoc under Prof. G. Blobel at Rockefeller University.
Research Interests: Structural biology of ribosomes, viral mechanisms, protein translation regulation, mitochondrial protein transport, and molecular machines. His lab employs cryo-electron microscopy and biochemical approaches to study these systems.
