Rohan Bennett

Prof. Rohan Bennett is a Professor of Information Systems at the School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship, Swinburne University of Technology. He leads the GeoBusiness research theme within the Innovative Planet Research Institute. His expertise spans geospatial sciences, cadastral systems, and land data science. Bennett holds a PhD (2008) and advanced degrees in Information Systems and Geomatics Engineering from the University of Melbourne. Over two decades, he has designed award-winning educational programs across institutions in Australia, Europe, and Asia, while strengthening academic capacity in developing regions like Eastern Africa and Southeast Asia.

His research focuses on FFPLA (Fit-for-Purpose Land Administration), LADM (Land Administration Domain Model), and digital transformation in land governance. Notable projects include $5M AUD in international grants, such as the AFRICA (Deutsche Gesellschaft) project and Somalia's National Digital Identity Program. Bennett has authored over 100 high-impact journal articles, addressing topics like automated cadastral mapping in Ethiopia, gender-sensitive land systems, and FELA (Framework for Effective Land Administration).

He serves as Associate Editor for Land Use Policy and Remote Sensing, chairs the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), and leads initiatives like the LADM in the Classroom report. Awards include the 40-under-40 Remarkable Geospatial Professionals (2015) and multiple best paper recognitions. Current supervision focuses on digital business transformation in Indonesia's creative industries.

Bennett actively promotes partnerships aligning with UN SDGs 1 (No Poverty), 5 (Gender Equality), 9 (Industry Innovation), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land). His work bridges geomatics, public policy, and sustainable development in complex socio-technical environments.
