About
Rogerio Jorge is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics within Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, and a Research Scientist at IST. He serves as Principal Investigator for a EUROfusion Enabling Research grant focused on magnetic confinement fusion reactor design. His academic journey includes an Integrated Master's in Engineering Physics from IST (2010–2014) and a Ph.D. from EPFL via the EPFL-IST Joint Doctoral Initiative (2015–2019), where he developed models for plasma behavior and received distinction honors.
His research spans plasma physics, nuclear fusion, magnetic confinement technologies, stellarator equilibria, and turbulence modeling. This work supports advancements in fusion energy solutions.
Awards and Fellowships:
- Erasmus Scholarship (Master's research at EPFL)
- 2020 EPS-PPD Ph.D. Research Award
- EPFL Physics Doctoral Thesis Award
- Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship
- FCT CEEC Early Career Award (2021)
He supervises physics students at IST and leads a EUROfusion grant. He collaborates with the Simons Collaboration on Hidden Symmetries and Fusion Energy and maintains affiliations with international plasma physics institutions.
