Roger A. Ladd is a Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in English Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He has been affiliated with the Department of English, Theatre, and World Languages since 2003. His expertise spans Medieval Studies, British Literature, and Composition. Dr. Ladd holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
His research focuses on medieval and early modern literature, including works by Margery Kempe, Geoffrey Chaucer, John Gower, and Malory. He is currently developing a book-length project on satire and John Gower. Ladd is also treasurer of the international John Gower Society.
Teaching interests include literary theory, history of the English language, and J.R.R. Tolkien. He volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America and enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and bicycling.
