About
Rodrigo Andrade is Professor of Pharmacology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. His laboratory investigates G protein-coupled receptor signaling mechanisms in neuronal communication, with focus on serotonin receptors in cortical and hippocampal circuits.
Education
- Ph.D. Pharmacology, Yale University
- B.A. Biology, Kalamazoo College
Research contributions include pioneering work on 5-HT receptor physiology: identifying receptor subtypes in CA1 pyramidal cells, mapping 5-HT2A signaling in prefrontal cortex, and characterizing Gaq-11-mediated slow afterdepolarizations. Current work examines TRPC channels in neuronal excitability and calcium-activated potassium currents.
Dr. Andrade has trained numerous doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows, with alumni holding faculty positions at University of Maryland, University of Ottawa, and research institutes.
