Rodney Harrison is Professor of Heritage Studies at University College London's Institute of Archaeology. His research examines heritage conservation through interdisciplinary approaches bridging natural and cultural preservation. Harrison leads the AHRC-funded Heritage Futures programme, conducting comparative research across nuclear waste management, museum collections, biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation.
His theoretical contributions include rethinking heritage ontologies and materiality through posthuman frameworks. Publications analyze how heritage practices construct future imaginaries and address challenges of the Anthropocene. Fieldwork spans the UK, Australia, North America and South America, including research with Indigenous communities.
Harrison has curated major exhibitions including 'Heritage Futures' at Manchester Museum and 'Los ecos del Proyecto Huemul' in Argentina. His books include 'Heritage: Critical Approaches' and 'Shared Landscapes: Archaeologies of Attachment'.
