Dr Robyn Timothy is a Lecturer in Sociology and Criminology at York St John University's School of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences (2022), MA in Women's Studies (2017), and BA in Sociology (2015), all from UK institutions. Her research focuses on feminist theory, gender, digital embodiment, and popular culture representation. She teaches modules including Gender, Sexuality, and Media, and Social Research Methods.
Her research explores how digital feminist artists navigate online spaces and how bodies are represented in media. Notable publications include analyses of cyberfeminist utopias in Feminist Theory and critiques of white feminism in Feminist Pedagogy. She has organized academic conferences such as the Critical Research Conference (2022) and Research Spotlight: YSJ Social Science Conference (2021).
Dr Timothy is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), member of the British Sociological Association, and serves as an external examiner at Northumbria University since 2024.
