About
Robyn S. Wilson is a Professor of Risk Analysis and Decision Science and Associate Director of Research and Graduate Education at The Ohio State University's School of Environment and Natural Resources, where she has served since 2007. She maintains active leadership roles including membership on the US EPA Board of Scientific Counselors Social and Community Science Subcommittee and past presidency of the Society for Risk Analysis.
Her academic foundation includes a B.A. in Environmental Studies with Honors from Denison University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environment and Natural Resources from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Wilson's research program centers on risk perception, behavioral decision science, and climate adaptation, examining how intuitive and analytic information processing influences environmental judgment and choice. Her work spans private lands conservation, resource management (soil/water/forests), and heterogeneous behavioral modeling, with applied focus on developing risk communication tools for land managers and policymakers.
Analysis of her publication record reveals consistent interdisciplinary engagement across environmental decision contexts, with recent work emphasizing agricultural adaptation to climate change, wildlife conservation conflicts, and nutrient management in the Great Lakes Basin. Her methodological approach frequently combines survey research with behavioral modeling to address complex socio-ecological challenges.
As lead investigator on approximately $20 million in research funding, she directs major projects including the NIFA-funded Agroecosystem Resilience initiative examining farmer adaptations to climate risks in the Eastern Corn Belt. Her grant portfolio includes support from NSF, NIFA, USFWS, USEPA, and major conservation organizations.
Professional service highlights include former membership on National Academies committees (Resilient America Roundtable, Board on Environmental Change and Society) and the USEPA Science Advisory Board, demonstrating sustained influence in environmental policy circles through evidence-based risk analysis.
