Robyn Caplan

Robyn Caplan is an Assistant Professor at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy and a Senior Lecturer in the Duke Initiative for Science & Society. She is also a Researcher Affiliate at Data & Society and an Affiliate at UNC-Chapel Hill's Center for Information Technology and Policy.

Her research focuses on platform governance, media policy, and algorithmic accountability, examining organizational behavior in content moderation and digital labor dynamics. Recent work explores TikTok's algorithmic mutual aid and the evolution of platform governance frameworks.

Caplan has received the Distinguished Humphrey Fellowship Program and the Cornell Digital Life Initiative Fellowship. Her publications appear in journals like International Journal of Communication and Social Media + Society.
