About
Dr. Robin Du is a Senior Research Associate at the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (BABS), University of New South Wales (UNSW), with over 15 years of experience in lipid metabolism and intracellular trafficking. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics from UNSW in 2007 and an MSc in Biotechnology from UNSW in 2003.
- Research Focus: Molecular mechanisms of intracellular lipid trafficking, phospholipid scrambling, and lipid droplet biology in metabolic disorders and diseases.
- Expertise: Cholesterol homeostasis, membrane contact sites, oxysterol-binding proteins, genome editing, and lipidomics.
- Collaborations: Active member of the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and Biochemical Society (London).
Dr. Du's recent publications analyze lipid droplet biogenesis, scramblase function, and cholesterol transport in high-impact journals like Nature, Science, and Cell. His work reveals critical connections between lipid dynamics and diseases such as cancer and neurodegeneration.
- 2019: Research Excellence Award, Australian Association of Chinese Biomedical Scientists
- 2020: Research Excellence Award, Australian Association of Chinese Biomedical Scientists
As a referee for NHMRC and reviewer for journals like International Journal of Cell Biology, Dr. Du contributes to peer review. His research team investigates organellar lipid dynamics at UNSW's School of BABS.
