Robeson Taj Frazier is an Associate Professor of Communication and Director of the Institute for Difference and Empowerment in the Arts (IDEA) at the University of Southern California (USC) Annenberg School. His research focuses on Black and Afro-diasporic political cultures, media, and intellectual histories, with emphasis on cross-cultural contact and global youth culture. He holds a BA in Africana Studies and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in African Diaspora Studies from UC Berkeley.
Key research areas include Cold War Sino-Black alliances, hip-hop's digital evolution, and LA-based artistic movements. His books include The East is Black (2014) and KAOS Theory (2023). He also produced the documentary It’s Yours (2019) about hip-hop and the internet. Frazier has affiliations with the Critical Media Project, Center on Public Diplomacy, and Annenberg Innovation Lab.
His work bridges academia and practice through multimedia projects, public lectures, and community arts initiatives. Previously taught at NYU, Princeton, and CUNY-Bronx Community College.曾作为说唱歌手创作并发布音乐专辑。
