Roberto Wessels

Prof. Roberto Wessels is a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen. His expertise spans investments, corporate finance, and corporate governance. Previously, he held roles such as Clinical Professor at the McCombs School of Business (University of Texas at Austin, 2002–2011), Visiting Professorships at Solvay School of Business (2000), University of Rochester (1985–1989), and UCLA (1984–1986). He also served as Chief Investment Officer at Fortis Investment Management (1996–2000) and founded ARCAS-WRR, an investment management firm.

His research focuses on corporate governance's impact on financial performance, as seen in his 2016 article in the Multinational Finance Journal. Wessels has extensive industry experience, including roles at AMRO Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank. His academic career includes tenured positions at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Leiden University.
