Roberto Strongman

Roberto Strongman is Associate Professor in the Department of Black Studies at UC Santa Barbara. His interdisciplinary research examines Caribbean cultural studies through frameworks of religion, history, and sexuality, with specialization in Creole languages and La Créolité movement.

His award-winning book 'Queering Black Atlantic Religions' analyzes gender fluidity in Afro-diasporic religious practices. Strongman has conducted archival research across the Caribbean and published on topics ranging from Haitian Vodou to literary expressions of African spirituality.
