Robert Walsh, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Accounting and Academic Program Director at the Gupta College of Business, University of Dallas. He holds a BBA and MBA in Taxation from the University of Notre Dame, and MA and PhD in Economics. His career includes roles as Department Chair and Interim Dean at Marist College, and faculty positions at Webber International University. Walsh is a Past President of both the Northeast and Southwest Regional American Accounting Associations and was inducted into the NEAAA Hall of Fame (2007). He maintains active membership in the American Accounting Association and Texas CPA Society, holding a Texas CPA license.
Walsh's research focuses on tax code complexity, historical tax policy, accounting ethics, and online education. His work examines unintended consequences of tax laws, the evolution of tax preparation technology, and pedagogical strategies in accounting education. He has presented at over 30 conferences and published over 20 refereed articles. Prior to academia, he worked at Deloitte, Coopers & Lybrand, and Crowe Horwath in auditing and tax roles.
His teaching responsibilities include courses on accounting for managers, taxation fundamentals, and research methods. He emphasizes understanding tax rules' societal impact and limitations. Outside academia, Walsh is an avid baseball fan with visits to 35 MLB stadiums, especially following his hometown Detroit Tigers.
