Robert W. Gehl is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication & Media Studies at York University, where he holds the Ontario Research Chair in Digital Governance for Social Justice. A Fulbright scholar and award-winning author, his research examines contemporary communication technologies with focus on alternative social media, digital governance, and manipulative communication practices.
His research investigates the social and political implications of digital platforms, including network cultures, dark web technologies, and social media manipulation. Gehl's work combines software studies with critical theory to analyze power structures in digital environments.
