Robert Piercey

Dr. Robert Piercey is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Regina, currently on sabbatical until January 2026. He holds a BA Hons from Memorial University, an MA from the University of Warwick, and a PhD from the University of Notre Dame.

His research explores intersections between philosophy, history, and literature, with emphases on:

• Post-Kantian European traditions (Hegel, Husserl, Ricoeur)
• Historiography and the evolution of philosophical ideas
• Hermeneutics and the practice of philosophical reading
• Pragmatism and metaphilosophical debates

As editor of Philosophy in Review, he shapes scholarly discourse in contemporary philosophy. His publications consistently address the historical dimensions of philosophy, with recent works examining Ricoeur's relationship with German idealism and reading as a philosophical act.
