Robert Pickering

Robert Pickering is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at Cal Poly Humboldt with nearly four decades of professional experience in scenic and lighting design. He holds an MFA in Cinema and Photography from Southern Illinois University and a BA in Theatre Arts from California State University, Chico. His creative work spans opera, theatre, and television, including productions with the Santa Fe Opera, Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Kentucky Educational Television Network.

His professional expertise includes:

• Lighting design for performance venues
• Theatre technology integration
• Scenic art techniques

At Cal Poly Humboldt, he teaches courses in design principles and technical theatre. He maintains professional design engagements with regional theatres while mentoring students in production techniques.
