Robert Phillips, MD, MSPH, is a family physician and practicing primary care physician with expertise in health services and primary care research. He serves as a Clinical Professor at Georgetown University and Virginia Commonwealth Universities and is Founding Executive Director of the Center for Professionalism and Value in Health Care in Washington, DC.
- Education: MD from the University of Florida (with honors for special distinction), clinical training at the University of Missouri, NRSA fellowship
- Leadership Roles: Co-chair of the Population Health Subcommittee (National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics), Co-chair of the NASEM Consensus Study on Implementing High Quality Primary Care, Chair of the National Academy of Medicine Membership Committee
His research focuses on the relationship between primary care functions, healthcare teams, and outcomes, including social determinants of health and rural health. He leads a national primary care registry and has published over 250 research articles and book chapters.
