Robert Murphy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine. As a licensed clinical psychologist, he directs the Center for Child & Family Health (CCFH), a multi-university partnership focused on child trauma research and intervention.
Dr. Murphy's research examines:
- Treatment and prevention of child traumatic stress
- Dissemination of evidence-based interventions
- Mental healthcare for military families
- Universal home visiting programs
He has developed and evaluated Family Connects, a postnatal nurse home visiting program shown to reduce child maltreatment reports and emergency care costs. His work has appeared in JAMA Network Open, Child Abuse & Neglect, and Journal of Trauma Stress.
