Robert Lamb serves as Chief Research and Technology Officer (CRTO) for the Electronics Division at Leonardo and holds an Honorary Professorship in Physics at Heriot-Watt University. He concurrently serves as Vice-President for Business on the Institute of Physics (IOP) Council for the 2024-2028 term.
His research spans quantum sensing, integrated photonics, and laser-based remote sensing, with pioneering contributions in single-photon-counting lidar, ultrashort pulse supercontinuum lasers, and atmospheric filamentation techniques. Current work focuses on quantum information processing for beam switching, optical communications, and neuromorphic computing applications.
